What do you love most about your job: Getting to work with new clients every day, and helping them look their personal best for their special events.
Favorite quote: “The best use of life is to spend it on something that will outlast it.”
Favorite food/drink: Anytime, anywhere, chips and salsa
What do you do in your “spare” time: I’m a mom, and love being a mom. So if I’m not working, I’m doing something with my family…from finger painting with a toddler, to skiing, or trying a new local restaurant…I’m thankful that we all love being together.
Where is your most favorite place to travel: We love traveling to Spain. I studied abroad there when I was in college and always had a special connection to Spain. (Actually I was a Spanish teacher back in the day.) Now, my husband and I are so fortunate to get to travel back there on a regular basis because one of our main bridal designers is based in Barcelona. So we are thankful for the opportunity to keep the memories alive.
Why do you love weddings: I think weddings are such a special day, and one of life’s happiest moments. It is a celebration of love and family…families coming together, and a new family being born. It is one of the only days in a person’s life where all of their loved ones will be together, to honor such a beautiful union. I LOVE that I get to help brides and grooms prepare for that special occasion, and share in their joy.
Anything else you want to tell our readers: Our boutique is different than any other shop you’ll ever go to…We all care so much about our brides and really take on their wedding as if it is our own. You will make special connections here, and friends that you keep in touch with well after your wedding.
People we LOVE :: Luxe Weddings :: Kelly Turner
I met Kelly a couple of years ago and absolutely loved her the day I met her. She had moved back from Chicago and was wanting to bring a different look and feel to Colorado Springs Weddings. I was so excited to work with her, and I have loved getting to know her over the last two years. I hope you enjoy a little look into Kelly’s business and life.

What do you love most about your job:
I love meeting new couples and I enjoy the fact that I’m always working on something new and different. I also love being able to give my brides and their families a stress-free wedding day and I take pleasure in making it everything they want it to be.
Favorite quote:
“When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile.” Author Unknown.
It seems so fitting for everyday life but also for brides who are in the middle of planning their wedding. So many emotions can go on during this time and I always tell my brides to smile and enjoy the process!
Favorite food/drink:
Hmm, that’s a tough one. I don’t know if this counts as a “food” but I love sour candy. My favorite drink (other than diet coke!) is a bellini. I fell in love with these on our honeymoon to Costa Rica. Sparkling wine/Champagne with peach puree. Delish!
What do you do in your “spare” time:
My spare time is filled with spending time with my baby girl, Stella. I also love to run and play tennis so finding time to do stay active is important to me.
Where is your most favorite place to travel:
Another tough question! My favorite place that I have ever visited is Hawaii, but I also love getting away to the Mountains.
Why do you love weddings:
Weddings are the beginning of a new journey between two people and I know it sounds cliché, but I love being a part of their love story. It truly is an amazing moment when the groom sees his bride for the first time or when the father dances with his daughter. You will always find me holding back tears during those special moments.
Karen + Carson :: La Foret :: Black Forest, CO
Carson and Karen were referred to us by Carly Mitchell Photography. We met at Panera Bread to talk about their wedding flowers, and I fell in love with their ideas and sweet personalities. I think everything turned out so pretty. The were married in Black Forest at the La Foret Conference Center.
They wanted a relaxed wedding where guests could come and enjoy themselves. The flowers were a contemporary, mountain, outdoor feel. We included protea, oncidium orchids, freesia, blue delphinium, thistle, and billy balls. The centerpieces were made from empty beer and wine bottles. It gave the reception a really laid-back feel. Thank you Carson and Karen for including us in your happy day!

Favorite quote: She believed she could, so she did
Favorite food/drink: Caramel Non- Fat Chai and Italian Food, but not at the same time
What do you do in your spare time: “Spare” time is reserved for living life with my 2 1/2 year old little man, hubby, our huge mastiff and loveable bassett hound, along with shopping, Starbucks, and reality TV.
Where is your most favorite place to travel: New York City
Why do you love weddings: Again, I love the people. The two becoming one. The range of emotions that take place. And most of all capturing a new family being created is just incredible . Gets me every time.
Anything else you want to tell our readers: I love life and everything involved with it. I am blessed beyond belief having been a former wedding planner, to now stand behind the lens and capture every detail & emotion as they unfold on a wedding day. A few more of my favorite things are winter (yes, I love snow!), did I mention Starbucks??, big cities, snuggles from my baby, retail therapy, all things girly, and nutella.
Barnwood Adventure :: What we will do for our brides
Today we took an adventure to La Salle, Colorado to find some barnwood. We are doing the flowers for a wedding in Steamboat Springs next week and we just couldn’t find the type of containers we wanted to create the natural Colorado winter look we are going for. Soooooo….we took a trip to get barn wood to make our own. What we thought would take 30 minutes, ended up taking 2 hours and us getting a little dirty taking a barn wall apart. We had so much fun.
Quote of the day (from the owner of the barnwood): “I have a lot of ladies coming here wanting this stuff because they want to do a project they saw on something called Pinterest? ” So funny! He was so confused, but didn’t care because he’s selling a lot of wood!
Here is the barn:
The pile we were working from:
Catherine having a blast! Next time we are going to bring our own gloves and tools!

What do you love most about your job: The thing I love most about my job is the opportunity to meet two people that are in love and bring out the most unique and remarkable aspects of their relationship and then turn it into one glorious day. My job is constantly changing because people are so different- it’s really exciting! Plus I love pretty things and brides are pretty.
Favorite quote: I’m not sure I have an all-time favorite, but ONE favorite is the saying we see everywhere “Keep calm and carry on”. I love this because it reminds me to do just that in the midst of uncertainty, doubt, and chaos.
Favorite food/drink: My favorite drink is a grande, 2 pump caramel brulee latte, whip cream with no sprinkles. It’s a seasonal drink from Starbucks and if I’m sweet enough to the staff, they “donate” their extra caramel brulee syrup to me at the end of the season.
What do you do in your “spare” time: In my spare time, I shop and read CIA spy thrillers. If I weren’t a wedding planner, I would be a CIA operative.
Where is your most favorite place to travel: Any big city, specifically New York City and Seattle.
Why do you love weddings: I love weddings because they are beautiful, unique, creative ways to enshrine the joining of two people’s lives. It’s such an honor for me, as a planner, to witness the genuine and authentic emotion that is brought out in people through weddings. What can I say, I love love!
Anything else you want to tell our readers: I love love, weddings, the incredible gift of marriage, beauty, my husband, creativity, people, a good time, coffee, shopping, steak, cities, hanging out with my girlfriends, couture, makeup, sparkly things, the color blue, champagne, emerald cut diamonds, hugs, clouds and rain, reading, city living, Ikea, and West Elm. If you love some of these things too, we’d probably make a great team for your wedding day.
